Membership

Membership in the Military Order of the Stars & Bars is limited to male descendants, either lineal or collateral, of the Confederate Officer Corps, members of the Confederate Congress, or any elected or appointed member of the Executive Branch of the Confederate Government. All members must be at least sixteen years old and maintain active membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Ancestral documentation must accompany all applications for membership. Dues of the national organization include a membership card, a lapel pin, and a large color certificate of membership suitable for framing.

Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces. Membership can be obtained through either direct or collateral family lines and kinship to a veteran must be documented genealogically. The minimum age for membership is 12. There are three classes of membership available: (1) Standard SCV membership, (2) Associated members (membership in at least one other SCV Camp) and (3) Associate members (Sons of Liberty).
